When it comes down to us, that's what the honor system is... trust.
Valerie Ackerman knew her VIRGINIA basketball jersey meant more than a tradition of success on the basketball court, it carried an expectation of integrity both with opponents and fans.
Years after leading the Lady Cavaliers into victory on the course, she's leading a new movement of excellence in women's athletics as the president of the Women's National Basketball Association. And she's delivering that same Virginia package of integrity.
"What goes on at UVA is a precursor for the real world," Ackerman said.
Ackerman saiys she builds the WNBA on the successful relationships they have with players, owners, media and, of course, the fans, all of which stand on a foundation of trust."
