IDoA 2026: Program out  and time to register!

As co-chair of the ICAI International Day of Action for Academic Integrity (IDoA) 2026, I am excited to invite you to participate again in our online events to mark the day, always the third Wednesday in October, so this year on Wednesday October 21. It's time to register!

Program for October 21

We offer a wonderful line-up of up to 90 speakers across 16 sessions, which I will be hosting for all 15 hours powered by motivation for international collaboration around integrity and a lot of bananas!

This year for our 11^th IDoA, our theme is Recipes for Integrity: Sharing your signature dish. Throughout the day, you’ll find reference to our food and integrity theme, with chefs, feasts, menus, kitchens and cooking, with many cultural references from around the world. See full schedule below.

So here’s a quick run through with some highlights across the day! After my introduction to IDoA, we’ll start in Australia with a special edition of Masterchef organized by the IDoA Faculty Working Group in Australia and New Zealand. The next session features a collaboration between students in Gaza with students in the UK, discussing how integrity is part of a wedding feast. Following this, the RICE panel (Recipes for Integrity Community Experts) led by students from the University of Adelaide, Australia, will discuss how restaurant kitchen scenarios can illustrate breaches of integrity and offer opportunities for highlighting good practice. Our next session will be a panel discussion including members of the ACARI/AMEA Consortium from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. We’ll take a short break, then Danny Liu from University of Sydney will present his innovative AI assessment menu. Next, we’ll move to Greece where a student panel will discuss ethos in action with their own recipes for integrity. The following session goes to University of Calgary, Canada where Sarah Elaine Eaton will introduce doctoral students from her postplagiarism lab to discuss their work on current BEACON and GUIDE projects. Zeenath Reza Khan will then chair a session featuring students from UAE. After that, we’ll go to Ireland, where a panel representing their NAIN (National Academic Integrity Network), QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland) and institutions will discuss the Irish proverb ‘Is maith an t-anlann an t-ocras’ (= Hunger is the best sauce) in relation to motivation for integrity. After another short break, we’ll have a session on integrity kitchens around the world led by Lorna Waddington which will include panellists discussing kitchen utensils in relation to academic integrity. Next the student working group will present their quiz on recipes for integrity. The ICAI Conference chairs for 2027 will provide a warmer for the joint conference with UDEM next February on ‘Integrity: Our shared culture’. We’ll then have a student panel from across the Latin American network discussing their recipes for integrity (in Spanish). The following session will be led by David Rettinger and Greer Murphy playing with the ‘Opposite of Cheating’ book theme in discussing the importance of cooking up collaborations on campus. Our penultimate session will feature Maori students from New Zealand who will discuss Maori values of integrity. The final session will be a wrap up and summary from Rachel Gorjup and I as co-chairs. Phew!

This year, Rachel has created an interactive map to share where and what is going on across the world for IDoA. During the day between sessions, we’ll do some live presentations from the map. If you would like to share what you are doing to mark IDoA and get your institution on the map, please complete this map submission form.

Resources

We’ll also demonstrate open access resources developed by members of our Staff/Faculty and Student Working Groups for you to use, curated by Hannah Gifford, member of the IDoA Planning Committee. You can see our resources, more available soon, linked to the IDoA webpage.

Student Contest

The student contest will also be promoted; please do encourage your students to submit their Recipe for Integrity!  Prizes will be awarded for the best recipes according to the judging criteria.

Pre-Event

We’ll be holding an IDoA Pre-Event on October 7 as a taster towards IDoA. Program and registration available soon on the IDoA webpage.
